The APC NEC has designated Ganduje as the National Chairman and Basiru as the Secretary.

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, and Senator Ajibola Basiru, spokesperson for the ninth Senate, were officially chosen to replace Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore as the new leaders of the All Progressives Congress. This decision was made shortly after President Bola Tinubu arrived at the Transcorp Hilton for the NEC meeting. Security personnel from the Department of State Services accompanied the President to the meeting.

After the appointments were announced, supporters of Ganduje and Basiru celebrated with great excitement, briefly interrupting the program. Other important figures present at the NEC meeting included Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, former Osun State Governor Chief Bisi Akande, acting National Chairman of the party Senator Abubakar Kyari, and Senator Ajibola Basiru.
