Rivers Assembly confirms Wike’s former commissioners as commissioner-designates

The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed four commissioner-nominees of Governor Siminialayi Fubara.

This comes barely 48-hours after he was sworn-in as the Governor of Rivers State.

At the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, Speaker of the House, Ikwuiyi Ibani, read out a correspondence from the Governor, requesting the House to screen and confirm the shortlisted persons as Commissioner-designates and members of the State Executive.

The nominees, who were former commissioners in the cabinet of the immediate past Governor of the state, Nyesom Wike include former Attorney General of the state, Professor Zaccheaus Adangor; former Commissioner of Works, Dakorinama George-Kelly; former Commissioner of Finance, Isaac Kamalu; and former Commissioner of Education, Professor Chinedu Nmom.

In his remarks, the speaker, noted that the nominees performed very well while serving the state in the past administration.

Following the unanimous decision of the House, the Speaker confirmed the nomination and directed the Clerk of the House to forward their decision to the Governor.
