Rivers 2023: Magnus Abe joins SDP amid APC crisis

Former Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Magnus Abe has announced his new membership with the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

This comes weeks after he announced his resignation from the APC over the party’s unpreparedness to win the 2023 governorship elections in Rivers state.

Announcing the development via his official Facebook page on Friday, Abe said he is committed to ensuring the improvement of internal democracy in his new party.

The statement reads in part, “Yes I am and I have been a member of the social Democratic Party SDP. I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years.

“We will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people.”

Recall that the former senator had also pledge to support the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, noting that he would work for him from outside of the party.
