Tobi Amusan Breaks world record twice bags Gold medal

Nigeria has yet again been set on the map. Tobi Amusan, a Nigerian athlete who runs track and field has now set, twice a new world record for 100 meters hurdle and also winning the goal medal for the 100 meters hurdle at the world Athletic championship in Oregon, USA

The first record set was at the semi finals where she delivered a surprising 12.12 sec time to beat the former record which was set by Keni Harrison USA in 2016

After the race speaking to reporters she said
“I wanted to get out and go,”
“I did what I had to do.”

She then went on to the final to beat her own time at 12.06 sec winning the gold medal as well as becoming the first Nigerian world champion

In second place Brittany Anderson (Jamaica) won Silver with a set time of 12.23 and coming in third Jasmine Camacho-Quinn with bronze at 12.23

Amusan, who is a Commonwealth Games champion, Diamond League trophy winner, and multiple African Champion, now has her attention on the Olympic Games medal to add to her amazing collection.

Meanwhile, Brume, the African record holder, landed a silver medal in the women’s long jump final with a season’s best of 7.02m.

Brume is the first Nigerian to win a medal at two successive editions of the World Championships having won a bronze medal last time out in Doha.
