Imo state monarch, who was kidnapped on Sunday when some unknown gunmen attacked his community has reportedly regained freedom.
The victim, Eze Acho Ndukwe, the traditional head of Amagu Ihube autonomous community and chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area of Traditional Rulers who was kidnapped alongside, Eze Paul Ogbu of Ihitte Ihube autonomous community has been released, Punch reports.
It was learnt that the monarch was rescued on Monday, a day after he was abducted.
A community source who to the newspaper disclosed that the community was happy that their traditional ruler could walk free again.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the state police, Micheal Abattam, said the monarch had been freed.
Gunmen on Sunday had reportedly stormed two communities in the state, abducting the traditional rulers, and ignited their palaces.
