FMC Owerri issues 2-weeks deadline to residents, threaten to bury unclaimed corpses

The Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri, Imo State, has issued a 2-weeks ultimatum to the residents, urging them to come forward and claim abandoned corpses in the facility’s mortuary.

The hospital, through its Public Relations Officer, PRO, Achonu Jacint on Wednesday declared that failure to claim the corpses will lead to a mass burial.

“This is to inform the general public that the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, intends to conduct mass burial of the abandoned corpses in its mortuary.

Achonu urged those who may have lost relatives to visit the hospital mortuary for possible identification and collection within the deadline.

“Given the above, those whose relatives are missing should visit the mortuary hospital for possible identification and collection of such corpses within two weeks.”

Recall that scores had lost their lives following the havoc caused by the unknown gunmen attacks in the state, including extra-judicially by security agents in the state.
