83-year-old woman beaten to death in Bayelsa over death of a boy

An 83-year-old woman has been lynched in Ikebiri 1 community, Southern Ijaw local government Area of Bayelsa following the death of a young boy.

The 83yrs old woman popularly known as Taku was reportedly beaten to death by angry community youths in a vicious jungle justice over the death of the boy.

The incident which occurred on Thursday morning left residents of the community dumbfounded.

Community sources said the old woman had promised to deal with the young boy before the end of the month and unfortunately, the boy died on Wednesday night without any sign of illness or sickness.

His death prompted youths to lynch the woman whom they accused of being responsible for his death.

When contacted, the public relations officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, SP Asinm Butswat, said he was not aware of the incident, promising to get back to our correspondent on the matter.

However, community sources said the duo have been buried.
