Coronavirus: Rivers State Government shuts Oil Mill Market

The Rivers State Government has closed down the Oil Mill Market with effect from Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

The weekly market sees convergence of traders from neighbouring Abia and is one of the biggest daily markets in the state.

Though the state is yet to record a single case, Governor Nyesom Wike has been announcing sweeping measures in a bid to curtail the spread of the virus.

The state government in a statement by the commissioner for information, Paulinus Nsirim said anyone found trading in the market will be arrested by security agents.
