Amaechi appropriating Rivers APC for his selfish gain – Igo Aguma

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, and former members of the House of Representatives, Lasbry Amadi and Igo Aguma, have called on the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party to urgently address the lingering intra-party crisis in the state.

The former lawmakers maintained that they remained the only recognised chieftains in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA) by the national leadership of the party, stressing that APC’s constitution should be respected.

Speaking, Amadi said: “It most unfortunate, these are hired characters; we know their antecedent. We are part of the original owners of this party. We want Nigeria to know that, as far as APC is concerned, there is no disintegration, no division in APC. We are all together.”

“The only thing is that we would always insist that we should behave like the progressives. And if we do not behave like progressives, then, we try as much as possible to let you behave like a progressive.

“Our position is, let the right thing be done. Our own decision is, let us win an election. We have never conducted ourselves in such a way to show that we are actually ready or interested, or would show as to win an election. We want an election to be done the way it should be done,” Amadi added.

Igo Aguma who said they are committed to restoring peace in Rivers APC, stressing that the party cannot make any headway if it continues to thrive in wrangling.

“We are calling on the National Executive Council of the party to take a special look into Rivers State. We were, up until now, like an abandoned ship. We’ve decided to start doing things by ourselves and to call the attention of the NEC to our plight in Rivers State.

“One man cannot manipulate the party for his personal benefit. Ask yourself why we did not do direct primaries. Everybody knows it is the solution for every party that has a series of court cases. That was offered to us as a party, but our leader rejected it.

“He is appropriating the party for his own selfish gain. He is a minister today in spite of the fact that we failed woefully in Ikwerre LGA. It was a zero vote. Even though he brought in (Biokpomabo) Awara, he brought zero to the table.

“Already, the party (state APC) is collapsing on his head. The entire world now knows what he is doing. He says he is the leader, but the party has collapsed.”
