Trump Slams ‘Prophets of Doom’ At World Economic Forum

The United States President, Donald Trump has said that the future of the world will not be determined by predictions but by actions inspired by creativity.

He made this known on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum (DAVOS 2020) in Switzerland.

The focus of DAVOS 2020 tagged “Stakeholders For A Cohesive And Sustainable World”, is on climate change and global warming.

But Trump said that since the prophecies of yesteryears have failed, nations should now take absolute responsibility in redefining its destiny.

“To embrace the possibilities of tomorrow we must reject the perennial prophets of doom and their predictions of the apocalypse; they are the heirs of yesterday’s foolish fortune tellers and we all have them and they want to see us too badly but we won’t let that happen.

“They predicted the overpopulation crisis in the 1960s, mass starvation in the 70s and the end of oil in 1990.

“These alarmists always demand the same thing, absolute power to dominate, control and transform every aspect of our lives,” he said.

He also promoted his policies and leadership style in governance, adding that America has become an economic powerhouse through the implementation of possibility mentality.

“An America where you understand what the pessimist refuses to see; that a growing and vibrant economy focused on the future lives in the human spirit and exerts creativity strong enough to overcome any challenge by far.

Deutsche Welle reports that following Trump’s speech, Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg criticized world leaders and business executives for failing to meet their climate targets.

“Unlike you, my generation will not give up without a fight. The facts are clear but they are still too uncomfortable for you to address.

“Our house is still on fire. Your inaction is fueling the flames by the hour. And we are telling you to act as if you loved your children above all else,” Thunberg said at the summit.
