2019 is my year- Imama Amapakabo

Ugochukwu Iwuchukwu

Coach of Home-Based Super Eagles, Imama Amapakabo says he is not disappointed with his performance as CHAN Eagles Coach and under-23 national team in 2019 despite the team’s inability to qualify for the 2020 CHAN tournament and Olympic games.

Imama Amapakabo while speaking at the sideline of a grassroots tournament in Port Harcourt said 2019 is a good year for him.

The former Sharks FC and Enugu Rangers Coach said he is privileged to be the Assistant Coach of Super Eagles, Head of the Home-Based Eagles and the Coach of under-23 Eagles.

The coach said he is focusing on the positives of his job in 2019 rather than the negative results he encountered in 2019.

The Coach also rates the Super Eagles high in 2019 after ending the year on the 31st position on FIFA rankings.

He said the Super Eagles did very well in 2019 especially in the 2019 AFCON and friendly games against Brazil and Ukraine.

The Rivers born tactician, however, commended his employers, the NFF for giving the privilege to coach the national team.
”I think it’s wonderful, so far we have been able to get good positioning, one that told us that our football at that top level is improving. So far I think it’s a wonderful year for us”.

It’s a great year for me, Imama Amapakabo had the opportunity that many other coaches have never had, Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, Head Coach of CHAN, Head Coach of under-23 whatever the results are, all glory to God, I think it’s a fantastic year for me”.

”I am not disappointed with the results of the CHAN Eagles and the National Under-23 teams, I am a coach and I will continue to do my best at all times” he said.
