RSHA Local Content, Youths and Employment committee warn companies

The Rivers State House of Assembly has said it loud that it will no longer tolerate the attitude of company owners who fail to engage indigenous Rivers people in their companies as staff.

This follows a petition presented before the committee by the Indigenous contractors Association of Onne over the alleged marginalization in the state.

The house committee chairman on Local Content, youths and employment in the Rivers State House of Assembly, IGWE OFORJi gave the warning shortly after meeting with the Management of the West African Containers Terminal who had failed to maintain a memorandum of Understanding with the indigenous contractors in Onne.

IGWE OFORJI who is the lawmaker representing Eleme constituency said the committee has summoned the CLO and as well mandated the company to provide all relevant documents of the Previous and present MOUs before the committee at the next meeting.

He said his committee will ensure the rightful positions of Rivers people get to them without any further delay in the state.
