Robbers behead policeman during attack on filling station

Some armed robbers late on Saturday attacked the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega station in the Asa Dam area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The robbers were said to have during their operation beheaded a police sergeant and a security man at the station.

Our correspondent gathered that the men of the underworld struck when the workers of the station had left for their respective homes.

A resident of the area said, “During the bloody incident, the armed robbers beheaded a sergeant and a security guard attached to the fuel station.”

Checks revealed that the NNPC mega station had been under lock and key throughout Sunday throwing residents into a panicky situation that another round of fuel scarcity was imminent.

Police Public Relations Officer in the Kwara Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident.

He added that “information is true. We have commenced an investigation into the matter.”
