Police arraign two for stealing N4, 000 phone in Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Police Command has arraigned Christian Eze and Chinwendu Ahumanya for allegedly stealing Nokia phone valued at N4,000 around the Diobu axis of Port Harcourt.

The first defendant, Christian Eze was accused of stealing the handset on the 17th of September, 2019 at Leventis Bus Stop in Port Harcourt, while the second defendant, Chinwendu Ahumanya got involved in the crime because he received the stolen phone from the first defendant.

The charge said, “that you Christian Eze, ‘M’, aged 26 on the 17th of September, 2019 at Leventis Bus Stop, Port Harcourt did steal a Nokia handset valued at N4,000, property of Ozoemene Anaemeje, ‘M’, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 3 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.

“And that you Chinwendu Ahumanya, ‘M’, aged 21 on the same day and place at about 1100hrs at Fly Over, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt did receive a Nokia phone valued at N4,000 only, property of Ozoemene Anaemeje, ‘M’, from Christian Eze which you knew at the time you received it that the item was stolen or unlawfully obtained and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.”
