American-based Nigerian calls for Port Harcourt to be renamed Port Adaka Boro

Ikhide Ikheloa, a Nigerian based in the United States of America has called for the renaming of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, to renamed Port Adaka Boro, after the Ijaw freedom fight, Isaac Adaka Boro.

The literary critic cited a Wikipedia page where Lewis Harcourt, who Port Harcourt was named after, was referred to as a paedophile.

He said the state government should rename the oil city Port Adaka Boro or PortBoro to reflect the importance of the natives.

Commenters on the post, however, argued that the ‘Port’ is not necessary.

Do you support the renaming of Port Harcourt?
