We are tackling security challenges in Choba – Eke

Kelechi Kas

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Solomon Eke has said steps are being put in place to tackle the security challenges in Choba community.

Eke’s comment comes after unknown gunmen killed the Community Development Chairman, CDC, of the community, Mr Lawrence Igwe and the Chief Priest of the community, Chief Orji on Sunday morning.

The youth had also accused chiefs and elites in the community of escalating the crises.

Eke while speaking during a meeting with stakeholders at the council headquarters on Tuesday said that the council is working in synergy with the police and other security agencies in unravelling the criminality in the council area.

He noted that the situation at Choba calls for concern and described it as unfortunate after remarkable progress was made in combating cultism and criminality in the community and wondered why it resurfaced.

Hon Solomon Eke said that as part of efforts to curb criminality, measures are already in place to nib in the bud criminal challenges.

The council boss emphasized that the Obio/Akpor Rapid Response Team when operational would drastically reduce cultism and criminality in the council area.
