The Community Development Committee Chairman of Nkpolu Community, Achinike Orubuogwu, has issued a 2-week ultimatum to the State and Federal Government to start repairing the bad spots on the Nkpolu section of the East/West Road.

Mr Orubuogwu said the ultimatum will start tomorrow (Tuesday) after the burial of a 26-year-old, Aleruchi Woke, who was shot dead by security operatives during the protest that turned violent at Nkpolu on November 2018.

The protest was to call the attention of the Government to fix the bad spot at the Nkpolu section of the East/West Road.

Speaking to our correspondent, the CDC Chairman of Nkpolu Community, Orubuogwu said the community will shut-down Nkpolu section of East-West road in another protest if Government fails to mobilize to site.

On his part, Chairman, Civil Society Organizations in Rivers State, Enefa Georgewill said it is disheartening that a security agency is allegedly shielding it personnel indicted in the killing of Aleruchi Woke.

Mr Georgewill said they will continue to demand justice for the family of the deceased.

It is understood that the flooding which led to the deterioration of the Nkpolu section of the East/West Road began after a parcel of land believed to be a swampland was sold to a private investor who later erected a structure on it.
