Security beefed up in Bakana after attacks.

Tony Philmoore, the Chairman of Degema Local Government Area has said that in order to battle insecurity in the LGA, a team of security personnel will be permanently stationed in Bakana.

This comes days after gunmen raided the coastal town, killing at least three persons.

Explaining the reason for the presence of the security agents to the people, Philmoore said the soldiers were on a mission of search and destroy, adding that the days of handling cultism and gangsterism with kid gloves in the LGA were over.

He said the soldiers were on strict orders to flush out gun totting criminals in Bakana and would do so without sentiment.

He also warned parents to rein in their children and wards before they become casualties.

He assured Bakana indigenes that his administration would do everything to secure their land, adding that in no distant time the soldiers would be joined by a team of Anti-Cultism unit to bolster security in the community while a police station would be built to accommodate them.

The he council boss also said his administration would give free education at all levels to all DELGA indigenes and promised to pay school fees for law students from the area.

He reiterated his earlier policy statement of providing electricity for all the communities in Degema LGA and promised to build an independent power project that would serve Bakana and Oguruama, adding that the project was already 50% completed.

Dr. Philmoore who promised to reimburse by second week of July this year boat drivers that have suffered the brunt of the insecurity, thanked the people for their patience and implored them to cooperate with his government to reap the fruits of good governance.
