Rivers Assembly sets up ad-hoc committee to tackle sea piracy

The Rivers State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, constituted an Ad-hoc committee to tackle rising spate of sea piracy.

The ad-hoc committee is headed by the member representing Gokhana constituency, Dumle Maol.

This comes as sea pirates continued their assault on sea travelers on Bille and Bonny waters.

Member representing Degema constituency, Anthony Soberekon, who presented a petition on the floor of the house over the issues of insecurity on the Bile waterways called on the Rivers State government to as a matter of urgency address the continues issues of sea pirate on Bile waterways.

The speaker of the house, Ikunyi Owaji Ibani said the lawmakers will not relent in ensuring the safety of lives and properties of rivers people.
