Gberegbe’s widow sues Akin Fakorede over husband’s death.

A high court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered notice of hearing to be served the Nigerian Police, Commander F-SARS Akin Fakorede on the murder of Late Ferry Gberegbere, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain who was murdered during the 2019 Governorship election in Rivers State.

Gberegbe, a lecturer at the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polythenic was shot on the abdomen on 10th March at the Khana collation centre.

He died a week later at a hospital in Port Harcourt.

Wife of the deceased Ronke Gberegbere had filed a lawsuit with suit number PHC/1054/19 against 1st Respondent; The Nigerian Police and 2nd Respondent; F-SARS Commander Akin Fakorede, seeking for fundamental right action on the murder of her late husband.

During the court proceeding, counsel to the wife of the deceased, Lezina Amegwa, told the court that late Ferry Gberegbere have the fundamental right to life.

No appearances were made in court for the 1st Respondent and the 2nd Respondent.

The presiding judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, adjourned the case to 14th June.

Speaking to our reporter Tina Amanda, Counsel Lezina Amegwa, said they are praying the court for legal actions to be taken to forestall this kind of injustice, adding that Justice must prevail on the matter, irrespective of their position.

He stressed that they are also praying for claims and damages.
