Aba Road shut as INEC issues certificates of return

The GRA section down to waterlines section of the Port Harcourt Aba road was on Tuesday shut to commuters by the Rivers State Police Command as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is set to issue certificates of return to the Rivers State Governor and elected members of the state house of assembly.

Police said that the measure was put in place to checkmate security threats during the issuance exercise.

Those to be issued the certificates of return were expected at the INEC office in Port Harcourt by 10 am.

Motorists groaned over the closure on Tuesday and were forced to divert towards GRA.

Wike and other members of the state house of assembly who emerged winners of the March 9 election are to be issued the certificates by INEC.
