Breaking: Police, protesters clash in Port Harcourt, many injured

Police and protesters have clashed in Port Harcourt leading to several injuries.

The protest was staged to foil the resumed collation of results for the suspended Rivers elections.

The police had earlier condoned off major access roads within Port Harcourt metropolis.

Also, the Rivers state government had earlier on Monday night warned the protesters to desist from the planned process.

However, the protesters gathered at the Polo field in GRA where they marched towards the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, along Aba Road.

The protesters, however, met heavy police presence who dispersed the protesters using teargas.

Those who spoke to theportcitynews said that several persons sustained injuries during the clash.

Details later.
