NUC wades into Uniport school fees crises.

Indications emerged on Friday that the National University Commission has waded into the school fees crises currently rocking the University of Portharcourt.

It will be recalled that the Ndowa Lale led administration began a punitive policy that would see students who have passed their exams but have not paid their school fees, repeat academic sessions that they did not pay for.

This has forced some of the students who have passed out of the University but have not been able to duly pay their school in order to be cleared, to be asked by the school administration to repeat those sessions.

The school administration said that such policy is for the good of the system as there should exist, a reasonable level of sanity as regard the s payment of fees in the institution.

However, the affected students wrote a petition to the National University Commission, asking the Commission to stop the University administration from implementing the policy as such would destabilize them.

TPCN gathered from a reliable source knowledgeable about the matter that the commission had on Friday, directed the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portharcourt to graduate students who have passed their exams when they pay their fees.

One of the affected students told TPCN that the directive by NUC is in order as such directive will restore confidence to the Nigerian students.

Attempts by our correspondence to have the public relations officer of the University, Mr. Williams Wodi, comment on the matter were abortive as he did not respond to phone calls.
