Electoral materials dispatched to 23 local government areas in Rivers State – REC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers state has urged the public to see the rescheduled February 23rd general elections as Nigerian project and not as INEC project.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Obo Effanga, who stated this to our reporter Tina Stephen in an interview, said the credibility of the 2019 general elections depend on the participation and conduct of all the stakeholders.

He called on the electorate to ensure that election in Rivers state is successful and peaceful.

“INEC is only one of the various stakeholder, so everyone should be involved in ensuring that election is successful and credible and this will mean that the voters who go out to vote conduct themselves in a manner that is conducive and expected of someone who is going to vote.

“Candidate must learn to conduct themselves, same as political parties, party agents, security agencies and election officials all conduct themselves appropriately, and this is what will make the election credible”

Effanga further said the commission is ready to conduct a free and fair election, adding that electoral materials have been dispatched to all the 23 local government areas of the state.
