Salvation ministries begins re-construction of Nkpolu access road (Pictures)

Salvation Ministries, last week, came to the rescue of residents of Nkpolu in Obio/Akpor local government area following a resurgent of flooding in the area.

The area which was drenched in persistent flood for the better part of 2018, saw the flooding resurge again in January following early torrential rainfalls with the access road leading to community blocked by stagnant water.

The Rivers State government, after making promises to solve the problem through the then commissioner for works, Dum Dekor, failed to restore the access road to its normal state.

A protest by members of the community over the state of the road in November, Led to the death of a youth of the community after a DSS personnel in a military convoy opened fire on the protesters.

However, Salvation Ministries moved in their equipment into the area on Wednesday and begun reconstructing the access road.

Residents who spoke to theportcitynews expressed their gratitude to the church for intervening in the area.

They said that since government failed, the church came to their rescue and showered praises on the church.
