Court strikes out Chidi Llyod’s jurisdiction application

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has dismissed an application challenging the jurisdiction of the court to try a former leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, CHIDI LLOYD.

CHIDI LLOYD was to appear in court to answer to three-count charges against him of wounding with intent and destruction of state properties levelled against him by the Rivers State government.

During the court proceeding, Counsel to Chidi Lloyd filed an application challenging the jurisdiction of the court. The defendant also prayed the court to strike out the charge number PH/692CR/2018.

In his ruling, Justice CHIWENDU NWORGU struck out the application brought by counsel to Chidi Lloyd for lack of merit and adjourned the case to 5th March, for CHIDI LLOYD to appear in court and take his plea.

Speaking to our reporter Tina Stephen, counsel to State Government, Adeyemi George, said the court found merit in the application they filed, adding that Chidi Lloyd should obey court orders and appear in court as no immunity covers him.
