The Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, says the APC led federal government has failed to fulfil its campaign promises made to Nigerians during the 2015 general elections.

The President of the Grassroots Development Initiative, BRIGHT AMAEWHULE, during a rally and inauguration of GDI secretariat in Oyigbo said the federal government has not cited any project in the area since 2015.

BRIGHT AMAEWHULE said Oyigbo people are suffering from infrastructural decay despite the huge number of multinationals operating in the local government area.

He also advised the people of Oyigbo to turn their attention to the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party PDP Atiku Abubakar, who he said will bring development to Oyigbo and Rivers State in general.

BRIGHT AMAEWHULE also commended the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike for what he termed economic and infrastructural development across the state.

He noted that Governor Nyesom Wike will do more for the state when re-elected in 2019.

The Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area GERALD OFORJI said the people of the area are resolute in their support for the Peoples Democratic Party to ensure the re-election of Governor Wike come 2019.

Gerald Oforji also said that his administration will continue to give maximum support to GDI by providing the dividend of democracy to the people of the area.

The Coordinator of Grassroots Development Initiative GDI, Oyigbo Local Government Area, Solomon Agomeze during the event said the inauguration of the secretariat will spur them to embark on an aggressive mobilization of the people in ensuring that PDP emerges victorious during the 2019 general elections.

Our correspondent reports that some people who claimed to be members of APC defected to the PDP during the GDI rally in Oyigbo.
