The influx of mad people inside Portharcourt town.

The influx of mad people within and outside Portharcourt city has become very worrisome and totally unsafe for residents of the city.

Last week at Borokiri, a mad man assaulted a young woman, leaving her with life threatening injuries.

This week, another mad man assaulted a heavily pregnant lady leading to her having a still-birth.

This is worrisome not just security wise but very unhealthy.
We see mad people die in the streets every day and it will take hours before their bodies are evacuated.

Driving through Portharcourt streets, mad people are loitering throughout the city, causing havoc and making the city look unkept.

This, together with the inability of the government to provide adequate waste disposal systems that will not warrant people leaving waste at the center of the road makes this city look somewhat dirty.

Government used to take care of these things when we were young. Mad people were arrested during the military era and sent to psychiatric homes where they were given adequate care and treatments.

Perhaps, the coming of democracy has also liberated them and made them to be reintegrated into the society.

Perhaps, it is the inefficiency of the the democratic systems.

The government should as a matter of fact do something about it.
