Nigeria now under siege ― ADC national chairman, Nwosu

National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Okeh Nwosu, on Wednesday, said Nigeria’s democracy is under siege for lack of good government in place, lamenting that despite that some people still find it appropriate preaching continuity to what he termed “failure.”

Nwosu said this in Lagos at a press interaction, which was also attended by the party national secretary, Shehu Baba Abdulahi and the publicity secretary, Mrs. Yemi Kolapo, asserting that the ADC as a platform was poised to build a brand as it stood for something unique that would make Nigerians know the difference between the existing and the new order soon.

“We want to build a brand. At the moment, our democracy is under siege, you see people preaching continuity in the way things are being done, I ask, continuity in what, continuity in failure? he said, adding that one would find it shocking sitting at any conference outside the country to see the way and manner Nigeria was being discussed.

According to him, Nigeria, giving the stage it now finds itself where the citizens struggle to pay their children’s school fees and the healthcare system is gone, has become a laughing stock to the outside world.

The party boss, however, assured that with good government in place, education was supposed to be free and the quality as high, while the health system should be one that would not afford the country’s rulers any opportunity to travel abroad on the excuse of wanting to obtain quality treatment for whatever ailment.

“All Nigerians must know is that if we have good government in place, Nigeria would be better. We struggle to do everything, we struggle to pay our children’s school fees.

“If we have good government, our schools supposed to be free, our educational quality is not okay. The health system is gone and the government in place is helpless. Enough is enough,” Nwosu said.

While reiterating the ADC support for collaboration among political parties ahead of the 2019 General Elections, Nwosu declared that as a member of the coalition, it was imperative that Nigerians must have a nation for them to have a tomorrow, assuring that the party was committed to genuine nationalism and culture of integrity.

“Getting our democracy in the right path is critical, if ADC is committed to that, the media and ADC must partner,” the ADC boss said.
