The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called for stronger inter-agency collaboration and digital reforms to protect Hajj funds against global economic uncertainties.
NAHCON Chairman, Amb. Ismail Yusuf, made the call at the 8th International Hajj Fund Forum 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
He emphasised the need for collaboration among government agencies, financial institutions and international partners to ensure sustainable pilgrimage financing.
Yusuf also said digital systems would improve transparency, accountability and decision-making in managing pilgrims’ funds.
He advocated investments in hospitality and logistics infrastructure to reduce accommodation costs for Nigerian pilgrims while generating sustainable returns for the Hajj fund.
The NAHCON chairman said stronger international partnerships, particularly with Indonesia, would enable Nigeria to adopt innovative financial technologies and best practices in Hajj administration.
The forum, hosted by Indonesia’s Hajj Financial Management Agency, brought together policymakers, financial experts and institutional leaders to discuss sustainable Hajj fund management, rising pilgrimage costs and digital transformation.
Participants also explored financial strategies to strengthen institutional cooperation and preserve long-term benefits for future generations of pilgrims.
