Galatasaray have received a major boost ahead of a crucial run of fixtures after Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen returned to training following his recent injury setback.
The Nigerian international resumed work with the Turkish champions as he continues his recovery programme and pushes to regain full fitness before Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League showdown against Barcelona on October 13.
Osimhen has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over Başakşehir. Despite the setback, the striker managed to score in the encounter and also found the net in the club’s subsequent 3-2 win over Göztepe before his condition worsened.
His absence was evident as Galatasaray endured mixed fortunes across domestic and European competitions. Okan Buruk’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Kocaelispor, and later fell to a heavy 4-0 loss against Trabzonspor.
With Barcelona set to visit Rams Park next week, Osimhen’s return to training comes at a critical time for the Turkish giants.
Galatasaray will first take on Kasimpasa in a Turkish Super Lig fixture on October 9, a match that could provide the Nigerian forward with an opportunity to continue building match fitness if cleared to play.
Since arriving at the club, Osimhen has established himself as one of Galatasaray’s key attacking players, contributing important goals and adding a significant threat in the final third.
However, the immediate focus remains on completing his rehabilitation and ensuring he returns to action at full strength.
With the Barcelona encounter drawing closer, Galatasaray’s medical and coaching staff will continue to assess the striker’s progress as they look to have one of their most influential players available for the high-profile European fixture.
