The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, on Thursday October 1, 2026 commissioned the Okporowo-Ogbakiri Community Hall (Obiri Echonwere) constructed by the Deputy Minority Whip and member representing Emohua State Constituency, Hon. Justina Emeji, while declaring that Rivers people would witness a harvest of constituency projects under the 10th Assembly.
The Emohua Local Government Chairman, Sir Chidi Lloyd, PhD, who chaired the ceremony, lauded Emeji as a good ambassador of the people.
He thanked the Assembly leadership for enabling members to attract projects and described the hall as a symbol of peace, social contract and fulfilment of promise. Lloyd said Emeji’s projects would complement the infrastructure revolution in the local government under his administration.
Amaewhule commended Emeji for utilising the approved constituency project fund for development.
He expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his leadership and support to the Assembly.
The Speaker also praised the Rainbow Coalition leadership in Emohua for loyalty to Wike and urged residents to support the APC governorship candidate, Rep. O.K. Chinda, and his running mate, Hon. Major Jack, ahead of the 2027 elections. He further commended Lloyd for sterling performance in infrastructure.
The paramount ruler of Emohua Kingdom and Chairman of the South-South Monarchs Forum, His Majesty Sir Ohna Sergeant Awuse, and the DG/CEO of NOSDRA, Chief Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, also commended Emeji.
Awuse noted that she was sustaining the legacies of her late father, while Woke expressed confidence in the Rainbow Coalition’s strength in the area.
In her remarks, Emeji attributed her achievements to Wike’s leadership and Amaewhule’s support. She disclosed that more than seven projects across Emohua were expected to be completed before 2027.
The hall, she said, actualised her late father’s dream of a community gathering place after he built the palace of the paramount ruler of Okporowo.
The event also featured a N30 million support for 150 small and medium-sized enterprises across the 14 wards of Emohua Local Government Area, with each beneficiary receiving N200,000.
