The Degema Local Government Council has donated a generator, borehole tank, and drugs to support healthcare services and the welfare of Rivers State University medical students in Obuama.
The Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Michael John Williams, made the donation as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and provide a better learning environment for students in the area.
The items were presented at the Health Centre, Obuama, by the council’s Vice Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Obuba Harry Maureen, who represented the chairman at the handover ceremony.
The drugs are expected to meet some of the medical needs of students of the RSU College of Medical Sciences, while the generator and borehole tank will provide essential services at the hostel where the students reside.

Speaking during the event, Mrs. Obuba said the council remains committed to improving healthcare and supporting initiatives that promote the welfare and development of residents and students.
She urged the beneficiaries to properly maintain the donated items and ensure they are used effectively for the benefit of the students and the wider community.
The Provost of the RSU College of Medical Sciences, Professor Kenneth Shelu Ordu, thanked the council chairman for the intervention.
He said the gesture demonstrates the administration’s support for healthcare education and student welfare.
The event was attended by the Degema Director of Health Services, officials of Rivers State University, and representatives of the Obuama Health Centre.
