Okrika Assembly Inspects Ongoing Projects Across LGA

The 8th Okrika Legislative Assembly has conducted an oversight inspection of selected ongoing projects being executed by the Okrika Local Government Chairman, Chief Hon. Akuro Alfred Tobin, DSSRS, JP, across the Local Government Area.

The inspection, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Dr. Paul G. Abam, formed part of the Assembly’s oversight responsibility to monitor project implementation, assess the progress and quality of work, and ensure that government projects serve the needs of residents.

The lawmakers inspected four major project sites, including the Kalio-Ama Concrete Landing Jetty and Passengers’ Waiting Hall, Okrika Central Library, the renovation of a six-classroom block at Community Secondary School, Okochiri, and the ongoing construction of a 40-room twin one-storey Corpers’ Lodge.

The Kalio-Ama jetty project is expected to improve maritime transportation and safety for residents and visitors who depend on the waterways.

At the Okrika Central Library, the Assembly inspected the ongoing construction of the facility, which is expected to provide an educational and research resource for students, young people and other residents.

The delegation also inspected renovation work on the six-classroom block at Community Secondary School, Okochiri. The project is aimed at improving the learning environment for students and teachers.

The lawmakers further visited the ongoing 40-room twin one-storey Corpers’ Lodge, which is being constructed to provide accommodation for National Youth Service Corps members serving in the LGA.

Speaking during the inspection, Abam expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded at the four project sites.

He commended Tobin’s administration for its focus on infrastructure development and projects he said were directly relevant to residents.

The legislative leader said the Assembly would continue to carry out its oversight responsibilities objectively and constructively while maintaining cooperation with the executive arm in the interest of Okrika LGA.

The 8th Okrika Legislative Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable development, improved public infrastructure, accountability and effective utilisation of public resources through its legislative, representation and oversight functions.
