The Rivers State Judiciary will resume normal court sittings on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following the completion of the annual vacation of judges of the State High Court.
The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, announced the resumption in a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi.
The statement urged members of the public to take note of the resumption of regular court sittings across the High Court of Rivers State from Thursday.
Justice Chibuzor-Amadi had earlier directed judges of the High Court to proceed on their annual vacation from Monday, July 20, to Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Chief Judge has fixed Thursday, September 24, 2026, for the opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 legal year of the Rivers State Judiciary.
According to the statement, activities for the new legal year will commence with a special church service at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s, Rebisi, Garrison, Port Harcourt.
The church service will be followed by a special court session at the Ceremonial Court Hall, Block C, High Court Complex, Port Harcourt.
The Chief Registrar urged members of the public and other stakeholders in the administration of justice to take note of the scheduled activities.
