A gas tanker overturned late Monday night at the gas bus stop along the Iwofe/Rumuolumeni road in Port Harcourt City, Rivers State.
The rear section of the tanker, which was conveying gas, toppled over while the front of the vehicle remained upright.

Emergency responders, including the fire service, arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning to bring the situation under control and secure the area.
No injuries have been reported so far, but authorities are advising members of the public to avoid the location while cleanup and safety operations are carried out.

Preliminary findings point to the poor state of the road as the likely cause of the accident. The route has deteriorated significantly over time, creating serious difficulties for motorists.
Residents in the area have repeatedly called for urgent repairs to make the busy road safer for commuters, but all to no avail.
