Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has resigned from office with immediate effect, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure amid growing pressure over the state of Nigerian football.
Gusau announced his resignation during a tense press conference at the NFF headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, August 27, 2026, ending weeks of speculation about his future.
His departure was followed by the resignation of the entire NFF Executive Committee and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, in what amounts to a sweeping leadership overhaul at the federation.
