The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the violent attack on the Amadabo of Finima Community in Bonny Local Government Area, HRH Dagogo Brown, following a clash over traditional rites and masquerade displays.
The monarch reportedly escaped unharmed on Saturday when gunmen invaded a cultural masquerade event near his palace and opened fire.
Several residents sustained gunshot and machete injuries, while property was reportedly destroyed during the violence. No death was recorded.
Confirming the incident on Monday, Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, said normalcy had been restored and one suspected gang member arrested.

She said the suspect was assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the group still at large.
The violence reportedly stemmed from disagreements over cultural identity, traditional rites, masquerade displays and the rights of families to conduct certain traditional activities.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Abinye Pepple, condemned the attack and called for an impartial investigation.
Pepple assured residents that anyone found culpable would face justice, regardless of status, and urged those who fled the community to return home.
Finima hosts major energy infrastructure, including the Nigeria LNG plant and Renaissance Africa Energy’s Bonny crude oil export terminal.
