The bitter aftermath of Nigeria’s disappointing campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been compounded by a historic milestone: for the first time in memory, not a single Super Falcons player has been named in the official tournament Best XI.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the official team of the tournament following the conclusion of the championship in Morocco, reflecting the seismic shifts in the balance of power across African women’s football.
