House of Representatives candidate, African Democratic Congress, ADC for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Azeez Adegoke-Rasaki has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has no authority to determine election results in Rivers State, stressing that he’s not INEC to decide the winner in 2027.
Rasaki made the assertion during a Television interview while reacting to Wike’s comments questioning the political influence of former Rivers governor and ADC vice presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi.
He said no politician has the power to declare another politician relevant or irrelevant and explained that in a democracy, judgment belongs to voters at the ballot box, not to opponents making public statements.
The ADC Chieftain pointed out Amaechi’s record of service as two-time Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-time governor of Rivers State, and two-time Minister of Transportation.
He said regardless of opinions about Amaechi’s tenure, his experience and national profile are undeniable, and he remains one of Nigeria’s most experienced political actors.
On Wike’s remarks about Amaechi’s influence in Rivers ahead of 2027, Rasaki said that is a question for Rivers voters, not for political commentators or rivals. He argued that elections are the only legitimate test of relevance.
He dismissed Wike’s assertions, saying his comments reflect political psychology and fear about what will happen in 2027.
He emphasized that the decision of the people of Rivers State will determine the true standing of all political actors involved.
“Elections remain the only legitimate test of political relevance. As far as I’m concerned, last I checked, His Excellency Nyesom Wike is not INEC, so he cannot declare any results in River State, and we should all just dismiss it.”
“Because, like I said, there’s politics, and there’s, what do you call it, there’s political psychology, and he’s just trying to make sure, you know, he’s afraid, and he knows what’s going to happen in 2027” he added.
