An elder statesman and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George says he is taking legal action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for recent allegations that he made against him.
Elder George asserted that the accusations are untrue and will be contested in court through the proper legal processes.
The conflict arose from statements made by Wike during a media chat in Abuja, where the former governor of Rivers State questioned the ownership of a house occupied by George in the Maitama neighborhood of the FCT.
Mr. Wike challenged the elder member of the PDP to clarify how he gained possession of the property and suggested that its funding was connected to money associated with Rivers State.
In response to the allegations, Elder George rejected the assertions while participating in a live Television interview.
He affirmed that Wike’s statements were baseless and insisted there was no validity to the implication that the property was funded by public money from Rivers State.
The veteran member of the PDP expressed that he would not let the accusations go uncontested, emphasizing his intention to seek legal remedies.
He claimed that the statements made by the FCT minister were damaging to his reputation and needed a reaction through legal channels rather than through public disputes.
Elder George also took the opportunity to criticize Wike during the television interview, pointing out that the minister had shown a lack of respect despite their age difference.
He highlighted that Wike is from the same generation as his eldest child and suggested that the minister ought to behave with more respect towards older individuals.
