The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has trained 200 women from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State in small-scale business development as part of activities to commemorate International Women’s Day.
The programme focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge on how to start, manage, and grow sustainable small businesses, to improve their income and economic independence.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of the NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku, said the initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to empowering women through entrepreneurship.

According to him, “The programme is designed to equip women with entrepreneurial skills and support the growth of their businesses.”
Ogbuku noted that empowering women economically remains a key priority for the Commission, adding that the training would help beneficiaries become self-reliant while contributing to the economic development of their communities.
The participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity, saying the knowledge gained would help them strengthen existing businesses and create new sources of income for their families.
