Gov Fubara Charges New Permanent Secretaries to Drive Civil Service Reforms

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in 12 new Permanent Secretaries, charging them to regard their appointments as a call to selfless service and provide purposeful leadership that will strengthen the state’s civil service.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where the governor said the appointments were aimed at reinforcing the administrative machinery of government and improving the implementation of policies and programmes for the development of Rivers State.

Fubara reminded the new Permanent Secretaries that they had attained the highest career position in the civil service and must justify the confidence reposed in them through professionalism, integrity and dedication to duty.

He urged them to ensure that every decision they make is guided by fairness, patriotism and the overall interest of the state.

“My charge to you is to do right to every man and woman, do right to Rivers State, and do right to the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor said, adding that their appointment should help the administration achieve its goal of moving the state forward.

The governor warned against complacency, poor supervision and bureaucratic inefficiency, noting that ineffective leadership could hinder government programmes and deny residents the benefits of good governance.

He stressed that their appointments should be seen as greater responsibilities rather than rewards, urging them to build enduring institutions that would continue to serve the state beyond the tenure of the current administration.

Fubara also called on the officials to uphold transparency, accountability and discipline while maintaining cordial working relationships with political office holders and civil servants to promote teamwork and improve service delivery.

He expressed confidence that their experience would drive reforms and enhance the performance of the Rivers State Civil Service.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and wished them success in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries are Mr. Freddy Ndigbara, Dr. Fortune Akpila, Dr. Promise Oguzie, Mrs. Ibisoye Lolomari Nwankwo, Mrs. Ibiyemiebara Joseph Uzoma, Mrs. Mercy Dagogo Iboroma, Dr. Wachukwu Vincent Worgu, Mr. Ifeanyi Anthony Ogboma, Dr. Mina Gogo Jim-Jaja, Mr. Henry Uzor, Mr. Chimemum Mpi and Dr. Mina Ikuru.
