The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc (PHED) has advised residents in its coverage area to take extra precautions around electrical facilities during the rainy season to avoid accidents.
In a public safety advisory, the company warned people not to go near fallen power lines, stressing that they should always be treated as live and dangerous.
PHED also urged residents to keep away from damaged electricity poles, exposed wires and flooded electrical installations, as they could lead to electrocution.
The electricity distribution company appealed to customers to report faults such as fallen poles, snapped cables and other electricity-related emergencies without delay to allow its technical team to respond quickly.
