As the Nigerian Premier football League (NPFL) transfer window is currently running, various clubs have stormed the market to secure signatures of local and foreign league players in order to bolster the squad ahead of the next season campaign.
On this note, it’ll be good to report that Ubong Williams has sealed a move to Nigeria Premier Football League outfit Rivers United on a permanent transfer from Bayelsa United.
According to the report, it is claimed that Ubong Williams left Bayelsa United following the club’s relegation from the NPFL, he featured regularly for the Prosperity Boys last season.
The details of the report stated clearly that the defender is now expected to compete for a starting role at his new club following Rivers United’s extensive recruitment drive. The Garden city boys finished second in the NPFL last season and are strengthening their squad for both domestic and continental campaigns.
On the other hand, It is also confirmed that Finidi George’s side have completed the signing of Imoh Obot for the 2026-27 season, Obot teamed up with the Pride of Rivers from Abia Warriors. He managed only 11 appearances for Abia Warriors last season.
The NPFL history has it that Obot had previously featured for the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, champions Enyimba in the past. The defender won the NPFL title with Enyimba in 2023.
As it stands, Obot’s recruitment is expected to add more depth to Rivers United defence next season.
According to the recent report, it has however been confirmed that Rivers United are expected to announce more signings in the coming weeks as the 2026/27 season approaches.
