A young woman identified as Eno, believed to be in her early 20s, has been killed in a tragic road accident involving a speeding vehicle within the campus of Rivers State University (RSU).
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, along Road A of the university when a vehicle reportedly moving in a convoy knocked down and fatally crushed the victim.
According to sources, the impact of the accident caused the victim to hit her head on the tarred road, resulting in fatal injuries. Some vehicles in the convoy and their occupants reportedly fled the scene after realizing that the young woman had died.
Sources within the university informed our correspondent that the institution’s security personnel and the police were immediately alerted, prompting authorities to close all exit points from the campus.
Operatives from the Nkpolu Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Henry Ogbuefi, in collaboration with the university’s internal security team, subsequently arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.

The suspects, identified as Onunaka and Daniel Ikechi, were reportedly driving a Toyota Camry Spider and a Mercedes-Benz E300 respectively. Both individuals are said to be students of the university.
As of press time, the suspects were being held at the Nkpolu Divisional Police Headquarters in Mile 3, Diobu, while the remains of the deceased had been deposited in a mortuary.
When contacted, the university’s spokesperson, Victor Banigo, said an official statement on the incident would be issued later.
When contacted the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Agabe Karbolo, confirmed the incident.
“two suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident while the corpse has been retrieved and deposited in the mortuary and investigation is ongoing”, she said.
