President Tinubu Commends Ekiti State Governor on Re-Election Victory

President Bola Tinubu has commended the people of Ekiti State for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Governorship Election in the state while congratulating Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election victory.

The President in a statement issued on Sunday June 21 by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order during the poll.

He charged the Independent National Electoral Commission to continue improving on the conduct of peaceful, free, fair and credible elections ahead of the Osun governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.

“With his overwhelming victory in the election, Oyebanji has emerged as the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to win re-election back-to-back,” the statement read.

President Tinubu noted that Governor Oyebanji’s first term recorded significant progress in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO agenda.

According to him, the renewed mandate represents a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

President Tinubu urged the governor to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all stakeholders along in consolidating on his achievements in the next four years.

He also commended other candidates who participated in the election, saying it was now time for them to support the governor in the interest of Ekiti State.

“I also commend all those who contested the election with the governor for exercising their democratic rights, saying it is now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance,” the statement said.

President Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more dividends of democracy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for the governor as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.

The governor was re-elected after polling 319,224 votes over his closest rivals in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Olumayokun Oluyede and African Democratic Congress, Dare Bejide, across the state’s 16 local governments.
