Yemi Daniel, who’s a technical crew member at Rivers United compared South Africa’s loss to Mexico with what Nigerian clubs go through in CAF competitions.
When Yemi Daniel talked about the result he said that people often do not understand how big the difference is between teams at levels.
Yemi Daniel said “This is what Nigeria clubs face in Africa during CAF games this is what South Africa faced against Mexico. There are levels in this game.”
Yemi Daniel, who works at Rivers United noted that when people talk about the difference in standards it is sometimes seen as an excuse even when it is true. Yemi Daniel said “If we say this some people will think we are making excuses.”
According to Yemi Daniel, the results of games are often affected by things like facilities, money, how good the team is and how much experience they have. Yemi Daniel said “Football is real and not made up.”
Yemi Daniel made these comments while people are still talking about how African clubs and national teams can compete against teams from places where football is more popular.
What Yemi Daniel said is similar to what people in football have been saying, which is that they need better structures at home and more support for clubs playing in Africa.
