Dickson Receives Obi, Urges NDC members To Stop Name-Calling

Senator Seriake Dickson has appealed to members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC to end internal disputes and focus on their collective goals.

Senator Dickson made the appeal in a statement on Thursday June 12, also met with the Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, following recent controversies sparked by comments he made regarding attacks from some of Obi’s supporters.

He said Mr. Obi visited him alongside other leaders of the party for a closed-door meeting that lasted about three hours.

“I want to use this opportunity again to call on all members of our party to stop the bickering and name-calling and focus on the bigger picture,” he said.

The meeting came shortly after the Bayelsa West senator expressed concern over what he described as attacks from some supporters of Obi despite their shared political objectives.

According to Dickson, the discussions focused on the activities of the party and recent issues that had generated concerns among stakeholders.

“I just received my brother, colleague, and partner in the New Nigerian Project, His Excellency Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON, our presidential candidate, who, together with some distinguished leaders of our party, held a closed-door meeting which lasted about three hours,” he said.

The former Bayelsa State governor stated that all contentious issues were discussed and amicably resolved.

“In the course of that meeting, we reviewed the activities of our party and discussed a few recent issues that have been a source of concern to all sides, and we amicably resolved all the issues,” he noted.

Dickson stressed that he and Obi remained united in their commitment to the broader objective of strengthening the party and positioning it for future electoral contests.

According to him, both leaders have always shared the same vision of winning elections and offering Nigerians an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We have always been on the same page on the bigger picture, that is, winning the elections for all candidates of our party and rescuing Nigeria from the misgovernance of the APC-led government,” he stated.

Dickson assured party members that consultations among Obi, himself and other stakeholders would continue in order to strengthen unity, address concerns and maintain cohesion within the party.

He said the leadership remains committed to what he described as the shared mission of rescuing Nigeria and building a better future for citizens.
