Super eagles striker Paul Onuacu delivered when it mattered most, scoring twice to encourage Trabzonspor to a 2-1 win over Konyaspor inside the Turkish Cup final on Friday night
The Nigerian striker became the hero as Trabzonspor secured the trophy for the 10th time in the club’s history, ending every other stunning season for the forward Super Eagles
Fresh from finishing as joint top scorer in the Turkish Super League for the 2025/26 season, Onuachu wasted little time making his mark inside the final, connecting with Vagne Pina’s delivery from the right back in the 18th minute to score early for Trabzonspor
Konyaspor however reacted strongly after the destruction. Democratic Republic of Congo forward Jackson Muleka restored parity five minutes into the second half, setting up a worrying battle for the trophy.
The game should have been completely in Konyaspor’s favor just before the hour mark, but Ennis Bardhi failed to convert from the penalty spot and missed a golden danger to end the comeback
With shape heading into overtime, Onuachu once again stepped up to settle the contest. The Nigerian flippantly converted from the penalty spot in the 79th minute to spark Black Sea Storm’s dramatic victory and a number of celebrations dedicated to Trabzonspor.
His Super Eagles team-mate Chibuike Nwaivu also ended up at the very end as Trabzonspor ended the marketing campaign with silverware.
For Onuachu it turned into another reminder of his importance, not only completing the season with wishes, yet with a trophy-winning overall performance when his group wanted him the most.
